So, Ben, you can remove this topic if you don’t want any classified listings…
Anyways, I have been thinking more and more about moving up to a 650R and I found a really nice blue one on craiglist…
Before posting anything on cl or ebay, I thought I would post something on BBM because I know there are people who are looking for the sold-out 08 250Rs and this site/community has been super helpful…
It is an 08 250R with 2300ish miles on it right now, Candy Plasma Blue. It is bone stock, so most of you probably already know what it looks like I will send pics to interested parties. The only scratch on the whole machine is a couple from my jacket’s zipper on the tank (would be covered with a tank protector). They are about 1 inch long and barely noticeable.
*Normal disclaimer* meticulously followed break-in instructions, went through first dealer service, never dropped, laid down, raced, abused, or even looked at sternly… also, a bunch of BBM guys have seen the bike and me ride it
anyways, asking 4500… I know this is over MSRP, but it is about 1100 less than I paid and only a few months old… also, I have seen 250Rs that have been dropped going for this price on cl… and they are sold out

oh yeah, I am in San Jose, CA

Someone is going to be happy.

I’m curious because it was one of the bikes I originally looked at but couldn’t get due to availablity issues. Then I saw a fella on a 250r try to beat traffic from a light and the acceleration seemed, well, unimpressive. I think he was a very new rider and he wasn’t revving it up much though, which I have read is a must.
July 16, 2008 at 5:21 pm #8900JirikiParticipantThat is the main reason, acceleration is ‘unimpressive.’ If you drive a prius, then you will be happy with this motorcycle… however, I drive a modified subaru wrx… I couldn’t wrap my head around how I was moving slower on a motorcycle than my car!
That being said, I had a ton of fun with the bike… and I think I am much more comfortable shifting/turning than someone who has the same riding time as me on a larger bike. I tend to learn things quickly and want a greater challenge (one I think would be offered by the 650R).
If I could afford it, I would have both the 650R and 250R. I would use the 250R as a track bike (there is a 250 circuit not too far away).
The other main reason was sort of hinted at in my original post in ‘general’ about upgrading 250R vs getting 650R. It works on the highway, but I feel sorry for it! The little engine is spinning away at 9-9.5k rpm (when you are forced above the speed limit to pass a truck, obviously I wouldn’t normally be doing 80-85…). If I can’t sell it and end up keeping, then I will up the power by re-jetting/full exhaust and then use this extra power to keep the same acceleration characteristics but change the sprocket sizes to lower the RPMs.
If I was going from a 250R to a Hayabusa so soon, then I’d hope you guys would be trying to stop me
