Re: Broken Speedometer... NX50

The speedometer cable is a thick metal wire inside a plastic tube. It's entirely mechanical (not electrical at all). Sometimes the wire breaks inside the tubing, but most often it just becomes disconnected at one end or the other. It usually clips/snaps into place at the wheel, and screws into place...

What a beauty. Thanks for sharing. Do you mind if I use one or two of your photos on the main Aero 50 page?

Re: Importing Issues with Genuine Scooter Co STELLA

Yeah you should be able to get it imported. Motoretta imported them to Canada for several years, as the Stella page on the main MotorScooterGuide.net site describes. There will be some hoops to jump through, like getting it safety inspected and some paperwork, but it shouldn't be too hard. I don't t...

Re: Help! Need some suggestions

Wow that's on there. Is it somehow bonded to the rim? Or the bead is just really tight? With old tires, I normally lay then down on their side and drive over the rubber with a vehicle to unseat the bead. You might be able to shove a solid stick/bar inside the tire now that you've got it cut, and the...

Re: My first 1985 Aero80 project. Bystarter and carb help

My brother did that with his Aero 80. He got an OKO 21mm carb from VTCycles.com along with a cone filter (replaces airbox) and upgraded intake and reeds that bolt to the motor and fit with the new carb. It ran 50mph with that new reeds/intake/carb. A carb like this should do it. Trickier is getting ...

Re: 2016 metropolitan new performance exhaust. Does EFI need to be adjusted

Your EFI should have an O2 sensor in the exhaust, which the EFI system uses to ensure the fuel delivered is about right. So you should be fine if you have an O2 sensor. If not (unlikely), then you would want to take a look at the spark plug to ensure the mix looks good.

Re: SK50M not running, occasional spark

Some possibilities are:
- Air/fuel mix ratio is off (e.g. plugged carb jet)
- Exhaust is plugged (sometimes happens on old 2-strokes)
- Compression is no good (easy to do a compression test if you have the right tools)

Re: Are aftermarket (aluminium) wheels available for the SA50?

Well you could upgrade to a disc brake  It's been years since I've looked at rims, so I'm a bit out of the loop on who's selling and which ones fit, but some sites to look at are: http://www.ruckhouse.com/index.php/wheels-tires/wheels https://www.drowsports.com/vehicle/honda-ruckus-parts/wh...

Re: Elite SA50 Maximum Tire Size

A 3.00 x 10" tire is 76mm wide (3" x 25.4mm per inch) and also 76mm tall usually. With modern tires the size will say something like 90/80-10, which means the tire is 90mm wide and 80% of that tall, so 72mm tall. If you want to keep your gearing about the same, you want a tire height close to the 76...

Sounds like your setup is different. On the newer Honda's the kickstarter gear slides right on to the end of the crankshaft.

Good luck with the GY6 parts.

Re: Honda Elite SA50 Kick starter same as GY6 50cc?

Honda usually makes the crankshaft out of a harder metal than the pieces attached to it, so it might not actually be stripped but rather just filled up with soft metal. With my Ruckus I thought mine was stripped after I didn't tighten the variator properly once, but actually metal from the variator/...
