Need to sand blast, paint and mount new tires on this CH150D. I tried getting the 1971 tires off the rim and they wouldn't budge. So, someone suggested cutting the tire with a saw and taking it off that way. Still can't get the tires to release from the rim.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Wow that's on there. Is it somehow bonded to the rim? Or the bead is just really tight?

With old tires, I normally lay then down on their side and drive over the rubber with a vehicle to unseat the bead.

You might be able to shove a solid stick/bar inside the tire now that you've got it cut, and then pry upwards after securing the rim somehow. Perhaps mount the wheel, put the e-brake on, and then pry? Just an idea - perhaps a poor one.

Get a 8' 2x4. Measure the height your car's bumper is off the driveway. Cut that much off the 2x4. Lay the tire under the bumper and place the cut off piece vertically on the tire next to the rim. Place the longer piece of the 2x4 under the bumper and on top of the vertical 2x4. Use that as a lever to push the bead off the rim. That should give you enough leverage to get the tire off.

Looks like the old tyre is rotted right to the rim. ive seen it at work with a Bricklin SV 1 that need new tyres(OEMs from '74) and the we had to cut the old ones off the rim then carefully grind the excess off the lip. That may be your only choice. Good luck Mate.
