2001 VESPA ET4 125
Milage: 1000 - 5000 Miles
Likes: Good pep, good to go on 55 mph limit freeways, braking pretty good, great mileage.
Dislikes: I have not received a good explanation regarding the keys and their attendant replacement expense. Fuels light comes on too early, fuel spills when gassing up. Bubble helmet storage box on the back bit of a pain to reattach.

Review:
I am a life long motorcyclist. This scooter came out of nowhere (my wife got it for her mother 10 years ago and mom gave it back). I never thought I would ride one and I love it! Unbelievable MPG, okay on the 110 freeway (I live in Pasadena and work downtown LA). Riding at 55-60 mph is not a problem. Love all the storage. Lots and lots of fun to scooter around town. Great fit and finish. Not that great on cold days because all you want to do is throw on flip flops and motor on the step through! The ET4 has been a pleasure on all fronts thus far.”

2002 VESPA ET4 125
Milage: 10,000 - 20,000 Miles
Likes: Good looks, handles well, nice to ride on open roads as well as around town, zippy off the lights
Dislikes:
Doesn’t like frosty mornings

Review:
Everything about my Vespa is cool. The touring kit looks really good on it and I changed the seat for the LXV king + queen seat. I got a scorpion exhaust system.

I may change the weights in the variator (Stock ones are 8.5 and I may go a bit lighter) and put a new air filter on it. BUT WITHOUT ALL THIS SHE STILL RUNS BLOODY GOOD! YOU GOT TO LOVE UM AND THEY WILL LOVE YOU BACK!!!!!!!!!”

2002 VESPA ET2 50
Milage: 0 - 1000 Miles
Likes: Fun to ride, very dependable, lots of storage space
Dislikes:
Heavy but solid - a bit hard to maneuver (e.g. hard to get up a high curb to park on the sidewalk in the city)

Review: While I don't ride it much (<1000 miles in 13 years!) I do enjoy it a lot. Living in the city, it is easy to scoot out to the grocery store or run out to get take-out. Out in the country, it is relaxing for longer trips. Not riding it much, the battery tends to die over the winter, but the kickstart always works for me. I didn't ride it at all for a few years, but after a tune up and carb clean-up, it works great. I use SeaFoam to keep the carburetor from gumming up now. I recently added an after-market high windscreen, which makes it warmer to ride in the winter and cuts out the bugs from slapping me in the face in the summer.”

2002 VESPA ET2 50
Milage: 10,000 - 20,000 Miles
Likes: Design, comfortable, steel frame, big storage
Dislikes:
Weight, plastic body panels, oval shaped front light

Review: I bought it with 15,000 miles in it. The parts weren't rusty, only some little dents are in it. The rear shock absorber was changeable. I am 6’ 6” but this bike is comfortable for my legs. I enjoy the big storage under the seat. This is my second scooter but I don't want to change it.”

2003 VESPA ET4 150
Milage: 1000 - 5000 Miles
Likes: Great power, smooth ride….it’s a Vespa
Dislikes:
Spark plug hard to get to.

Review:
First off, the summary found on the page is semi-right. The ET4 150 is a 151cc scooter, 11.6 bhp, and it gets 65-ish mpg. The European ET4 that had a pre-leader engine was the one that had such poor gas mileage (these were made prior to 2001). Mine will hit a true 67 mph and will cruise at 60-62 mph all day long.

Just a great all around scooter, but it is hard to get in and change the spark plug...and oil changes are messy thanks to a real oil filter that is placed behind the muffler.”

[Note: Main ET page has now been corrected. Thanks!]

Likes: Overall everything
Dislikes:
Nothing

Review:
I sniped this scooter for $1,000 used on craigslist and I am having a blast. The scooter is quick (45mph) and gets me to and from the gym, friend's house, etc with no problem. The scooter is perfect for a kid looking to get around town. The ONLY thing I can think of that would bug someone is the fact that it is a 2-stroke, so you have to buy the oil along with the gas, and it is a little louder than a 4-stroke. I don't mind it at all. This scooter is fantastic and I would recommend it to anyone looking to get into scooters.”

2004 VESPA ET2 50
Milage: 1000 - 5000 Miles
Likes: Styling, quality of paint, seat comfort and acceleration.
Dislikes:
Relatively low miles per gallon compared to other similar engine size scooters, metal body shows dings forever (vs part swap out on Honda and Yamaha scoots.

Review:
“I am a scooterhead with a stable of other machines (Honda Ruckus 50, Yamaha Zuma 50 and Yamaha Vino 125). The Vespa has them all beat on style and quality of ride and handling...not even a close one. Picked up the 2004 ET2 recently as a used machine with some cosmetic damage and 2100 miles. Its after-market plastic chrome is fragile....don't use any cleaner wax on the stuff unless you want the chrome paint finish to rub off!

I performed a complete tuneup and had to tweak the Weber carb but still can't quite get the idle right. Runs best at 30 to 40 and accelerates super strong and linear off the line. Mileage is 50 to 55 mpg using 91 octane.”
