Had a light bulb moment tonight while practicing turning from a full stop. I was basically turning enough to mimic a u-turn. Anyway I found myself naturally using my outside knee to press on the tank while I leaned away from the turn. I was able to make some nice tight controlled turns. You have to get the speed control just right but it’s a nice feeling when it comes off and it just clicks.
I had read about the knee thing but it hadn’t clicked. It’s another one of those things I find easier to do when I am not thinking about them. Some of them will just come naturally if you let them.

Another thing that helps me is pushing down on the outside foot peg (left hand turn, push down on the right foot peg). It probably does the same (makes your outer knee press against the tank a little more). It helps stabilize the bike.
