I'd never trust a $1000 scooter to be reliable and lasting. There are a few good Chinese makes, but having owned a $2000 Chinese scooter, I still wasn't all that impressed. My 3/4 Nolan has a flip down shield. Sometimes I also wear safety sunglasses. Whatever glasses you get, keep in mind they should be safety glasses, either motorcycle or sport type, or you can get clear and tinted safety glasses at Lowes and Home Depot.
