Just put a down payment on a blue Yamaha FZ6R on Saturday and getting the insurance finalized today. I’ll have the dealer deliver it to me later in the week since it would be a bit of a drive home. I think I’ll spend some time working on my MSF skills in the neighborhood and then some empty country roads before I attempt anywhere with traffic on it.
I’ll get some reviews and pictures up hopefully by the weekend.
I finally decided on the FZ6R after seriously looking at the GSX-F, Ninja650, Ninja250, and various dual-sports. It finally came down to looks, good reviews, and a smooth fuel-injected 4 cylinder engine that felt so nice when I rode a CBR600 a month back.
Not sure if any of you have one of these, but the admin review of it looked good on here as well.

I looked at the FZ6R and liked it a lot, but decided against it because of the higher price, and since it is so new, there are not any used ones out there. Also, being a complete beginner with no experience at all, I decided to stick with a 500 or less.
The first ride is really exciting! Enjoy, and ride safe.August 11, 2009 at 12:03 am #21476Zig308ParticipantWell… it’s not “free” to have it delivered. They are charging $60 to drop it off at my place which is about a 25-30 minute drive from the dealer, so I figured the $60 would be well worth it rather than me pulling out into busy traffic to drive home 1/2 an hour on a brand new bike that I’ve never ridden with brand new tires that need to be broken in as well.
The $60 will be “insurance” well spent. I did get them to price match another dealer and even got and extra $9 off !!! whoo hoo. Got the bike for $5990 and about $6800 OTD.
Got the hook up with State Farm today for a tad less than $600/yr for full coverage…woot!

And be safe.

Also for more info and some how-to’s about the bike, they now have a full section for it on the fz6-forum.com website.
August 11, 2009 at 8:13 pm #21518Zig308ParticipantThanks… I joined up on that forum a couple days ago. Found lots of people in VA on there already.
Just stopped at the dealer on the way home to finalize paperwork. They said they would role in the delivery cost to the loan and when I signed everything… it wasn’t there. So, they are delivering it for free They’re dropping it off tomorrow when I get home from work… can’t wait. My wife will be shocked, she doesn’t know it’s coming. Last time I talked to her about it, she said, “oh just come home with it, I don’t want to talk about it anymore.”
Also picked up a Columbia Hi-Viz neon yellow jacket. If you can’t see me coming on this, then I really am invisible!

Here it is guys… I put 9 miles on this bad boy tonight. Even did 39 in a 35…blew by this rabbit. He never even saw me coming.
I even accidentally hit my horn when I was trying to turn on my blinker right when I was coming up to the intersection by 7-11. Yeah… I was “cool”…
August 14, 2009 at 2:00 am #21583yugen852ParticipantCool bike, man. Very nice.
August 14, 2009 at 2:45 am #21584JtownJJAParticipantCongratulations! It looks Awesome! I’m not sure if you passed a rabbit car or rabbit animal, but it reminds me of a few weeks ago when I was riding down our country road and I just happened to see this little mouse come running across the road heading straight for my tires. I didn’t feel anything hit, but as he was running, I was thinking “Nooooooo!”. Keep an eye out for kamakaze wildlife and enjoy the FZ6R!
August 14, 2009 at 3:57 pm #21603nok610ParticipantThat’s a hot looking bike!
