1986 Honda Aero
Hey what’s up
I just purchased a moped couple weeks ago. When I went out for a drive as I came to a complete stop i hit the high beams on and then off rite after that I noticed when the light turned green and it was time for me to go I gave it gas and it kind of started to go but at the same time gave one bog and then lost power and completely turned off it looks like I have spark I also charged the battery, I tried cleaning out the carburetor. Not sure what else to do but would appreciate the help if someone can point me in the Right direction on how I can fix this problem...

Re: 1986 Honda Aero
It still could be the carb but on mine it was running great then out of nowhere wouldn't run and it was the spark plug.

That’s how mine was ran great for about 3 weeks (drove it here and there) and one day as I was driving it just died. Do you think carburetor needs to be re-cleaned?

Check the bystarter (automatic choke).

Ah-yup. That'll put a kink on the scooter's ride.

What could’ve cause this to happen? Now how should I clean what’s inside the motor?

Re: 1986 Honda Aero
Stuff happens. These scooters are not meant to be run on fuel with ethanol. That causes carbon buildup that can lead to this. It is dirt simple to remove ethanol from your fuel, just add water, shake and wait for it to separate, then siphon off the ethanol at the bottom. Look it up on Google, there are tons of examples of how to do it. You can then burn the ethanol, which produces harmless CO2, water and heat.
Open up the engine block and carefully clean it out. That should be obvious.

Re: 1986 Honda Aero
It looks like your cylinder head gasket was leaking hence the oil on the outside of the head. With extra air coming into the top, caused it to run lean and overheat, since its the gas and oil mix cools it down. Just a guess.

Re: 1986 Honda Aero
Sorry might be a dumb question but what kind of oil should I use for the crankcase?

Re: 1986 Honda Aero
You need to download the service and/or owner's manual for your bike. There is no "crankcase oil" in this scooter, that's only for four-stroke engines. Yours is two-stroke. There is pre-mix oil that is put into the reservoir next to the gas cap. That is mixed with the gasoline for lubrication.
