Here's another neat Honda scooter that we never got, the 1983 Honda Beat. The Beat is a super neat 'sport scooter' that was a 50cc that put out an amazing 7.2hp. This would be an amazing scooter to have because it looks awesome and it's got the power to back it up. At 7.2hp, it has more power than the NH80 (6.5hp). This is the first Honda scooter I've ever seen that came stock with an expansion chamber exhaust.
Another neat thing about the Beat is that it used a liquid cooled 2-stroke engine. This was the world's first liquid cooled 2-stroke 50cc engine. The beat was also a 'hemi' (hemispherical combustion chamber). This scooter also had the worlds first dual halogen headlights. It had oil damped suspension....this is really trick stuff for a 50cc. Too bad we didn't get it here. I believe it was sold briefly in Europe.....man I'd love to import one of these.
Honda put out a crapload of scooters in the early 80's in Japan. I'm browsing their history site now and it's crazy.
shit! they just keep getting better, the scooters you are finding! this has power and style. the star wars look.
presently enjoy riding a Ruckus and a Super 9. Tinkering with a Riva 180 and a couple of old Puch SV's. In the off season I enjoy a 1999 Polaris Indy 600 XLT Touring and a 2014 Artic Cat Prowler side by side
That's so sick that it has a tach! It appears to rev to 9500 RPM. It also has a super cool 'speed warning' light. I wish the Ruckus had so much power it needed one of those The temp gauge and fuel gauge are nice touches too. What a great scoot!
looks so big for a 50cc scooter? do you know top speed?

With 7.2hp, I'd say it's got the power to do an easy 50mph / 80km/hr but I doubt they let it be that fast. I bet they have a red line built in no higher than 60km/hr based on that the speedo only reads that high. If it went faster than 60km/hr you'd think they'd spec a speedo that reads higher.
Because the speedo turns red at 30km/hr, I bet this Beat was restricted to 30km/hr and then you could derestrict it to go atleast 60km/hr...Or maybe faster hence the 'speed warning' light. This Beat may be from Europe where a lot of countries have 20mph / 30km/hr restrictions on 50's.
yeah i forget people go that slow in some countries

All 2 strokes that use loop charging technology, that is with boost ports have a hemi head. So that is nothing because as far as I know all the modern Honda scooters are so equipped. At least all my scooters are.
